Article Processing Charges (APCs) Guide: Publication Support at UT Southwestern

Article Processing Charges (APCs) Guide

Microbiology Society

The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center Library has entered into a "Publish and Read" transformative agreement with the Microbiology Society, which allows the following:

  • Uncapped OA publishing – Any article published in Society titles where the corresponding author is from a Publish and Read institution will be OA by default.
  • Unlimited usage – Any user associated with a Publish and Read institution can access the entire archive of Society content, back to 1947, for reading and for text and data mining.

Corresponding UT Southwestern authors may publish articles as open access (OA)  in any of the following journals or open research platorm with no article processing charges (APCs) and without embargo:

Authors will be identified using the "utsouthwestern.edu" email domain, and they will be asked to sign a standard CC-BY Creative Commons license.

Funding acknowledgements must be provided by authors and will be included in the article XML for display in PDF and HTML formats, as well as any future format that may be introduced. Additionally, a funding acknowledgement will be made on the foot of each article as follows: "This article was made open access via a Publish and Read agreement between the Microbiology Society and the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center".

Note: While this agreement technically becomes official on January 1, 2024, articles that are submitted early are eligible under the agreement because they won't be officially accepted and published until after the agreement start date.
