Citing/Attributing Media

It is best practice to properly cite/attribute media.  While the citation format may vary by source (i.e., UT Southwestern Licensed Resources, free media, web sites), basic citation information includes: title of work, creator/photographer/artist, source of work/url, date of its creation, license type of work.

UT Southwestern Licensed Resources – follow the vendor’s citation and/or attribution guidelines.

EndNote’s “New Reference” feature provides a data entry template.  Once the template is completed, you can format the media resource using a specific output style (i.e., AMA, APA, etc.).  The quick reference guides highlight the “New Reference” feature and provide data entry tips.  Use the “Reference Type” dropdown menu to select “Online Multimedia.” Populate the essential fields to include within a formatted reference list, i.e., title of work, creator/photographer/artist, source of work/url, date of its creation, license type or work.
