Top 25 Ejournals

The UT Southwestern Library regularly gathers usage statistics from electronic journal providers to demonstrate how faculty, staff, students, residents, and fellows are using the resources to which we subscribe. The usage statistics we collect are based on the COUNTER 5 Code of Practice, which (1) enables publishers and vendors to report usage of their electronic resources in a consistent way and (2) enables libraries to compare data received from different publishers and vendors.

The COUNTER metric that we prefer to use for journal usage statistics is the Unique_Item_Requests, which "provides comparable usage across journal platforms by reducing the inflationary effect that occurs when an HTML full text automatically displays and the user then accesses the PDF version."

Using this metric, this guide indicates the most used ejournals during Fiscal Year 2024 (September 1, 2023 – August 31, 2024). This list will be updated at least annually.
