SPSS Guide: Home

SPSS – an acronym for "Statistical Package for the Social Sciences" – is a statistical analysis program that was first developed in 1968. SPSS Version 24 is installed on two computers in the Library for use by UT Southwestern faculty, fellows, residents, postdocs, staff, and students.

SPSS can be utilized in two different ways:

  1. Use the menus in the graphical user interface to choose which statistical analyses to run (i.e., the point and click method).
  2. Write syntax or code in the syntax editor to customize the analyses.

Core Facilities' Research Software Core Operations offers information on campus site licenses and how to get some technical support.
