What is CAS SciFinderⁿ?

CAS SciFinderⁿ is the latest scientific information solution from CAS, a division of the American Chemical Society. In addition to the reference, substance, reaction and supplier content found in CAS SciFinder®, CAS SciFinderⁿ includes relevance-ranked results, step-by-step procedures and protocols, citation mapping, biosequence searching, retrosynthetic analysis, patent landscape mapping, touch-screen enabled structure drawing and much more—all accessible in a simple, easy-to-use interface.

Who can access CAS SciFinderⁿ?

Access to CAS SciFinderⁿ is restricted to affiliated faculty, staff, and students of UT Southwestern.

Are there any use restrictions?

According to the CAS SciFinderⁿ license agreement, CAS SciFinderⁿ may not be used for commercial research, which includes research that is done under a funding or consultant contract where the results are delivered to a for-profit organization or for research that involves patentability searching. Authorized users may use CAS SciFinderⁿ for academic research, teaching, and publication purposes only. How do I obtain access to CAS SciFinderⁿ?

What are the hardware and Web browser requirements?

CAS SciFinderⁿ users have two options for structure drawing: ChemDoodle and CASDraw. Meeting the basic browser and operating systems requirements and having JavaScript and cookies enabled are sufficient to use these editors. A Java plug-in is not required.

Note: iOS 10.3 with iCloud enabled is required for drawing package file import/export.
